Waldo Pingel, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, with Reverend Henry Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call on Friday, August 4, 2006 from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present.
Waldo John Pingel was born April 22, 1911 to John and Bertha (Boettcher) Pingel at Rembrandt, Iowa. He was baptized as an infant at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, and attended grade school at Zion Lutheran’s school. Waldo graduated from Rembrandt High School.
On June 12, 1938, Waldo and Renata Gutz were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children: Karolyn, Corinne and Galen.
Waldo and Renata enjoyed life as farmers, raising their family in the country. Waldo shared his musical gifts by singing in the Buena Vista Barbershop Chorus. A loving husband and devoted father, Waldo loved his family deeply. His grandchildren were a special joy to him in his later years. His quiet, caring presence will be missed dearly by his family, even as they celebrate his life on earth with them, and his call home to Heaven by his Lord.
Left to cherish Waldo’s memory are his daughter, Karolyn (Charles) Robbins of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter Corinne (James) Bode of Orange, California; son Galen (Karen) Pingel of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandsons Darrin (Barbara) Bode and Matthew Bode, both of Los Angeles, California; grandson Jonathan (Beth) Pingel of Bryant, Arkansas; great-grandchildren Michelle Pingel and Samantha Pingel; sister-in-law Helen Pingel ; extended family and friends.
Waldo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Renata; brothers Arthur Pingel and Leo Pingel; sister Marie and her husband Raymond Albrecht; and sister-in-law Louise Pingel.
