Violet A. Meyer, 96 passed peacefully on May 11, 2021 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa where she has resided for the last 14 years.
Memorial services will take place Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City, Iowa. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon, Iowa. Directly afterwards, a luncheon is planned at the Marathon Community Center. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Meyer, her father William Brown, her mother Viola Glenn-Brown, three sisters and four brothers.
Violet was born in Royal, Missouri on April 14, 1925. She attended school in Royal and St. James, Missouri.
She married Frank Meyer of Marathon, Iowa on April 4, 1944 while he was serving in the Army during WWII. They moved to Marathon, Iowa in 1946 and resided there for approximately 65 years where they raised their three children: Jerry, Linda and Billy. Over her lifetime she worked at a variety of jobs and retired from Bel Mar Foods in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Violet enjoyed cooking, doing find-a-word books, embroidering and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving children are, Jerry Meyer of Des Moines; Linda Barish and her husband Richard of Cement City, Michigan and Billy Meyer and his wife Eileen of Bennington, Nebraska. Also, surviving are her ten grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the amazing staff at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa and the Grinnell, Iowa Hospice team for their kindness and care.
