Vicki Barglof

Vicki M. Barglof, age 74, of Linn Grove, Iowa went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will take place Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Linn Grove. Burial will be in the Barnes Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. 

Vicki Marie Barglof, the daughter of Dwight and Mary (Bryngleson) Clapp was born in Spencer, Iowa on March 3, 1949.  She grew up in Linn Grove and attended Cornell Elementary school and graduated from Sioux Valley High School in Linn Grove.  After high school Vicki moved to Iowa City and was employed by Western Union.

On December 29, 1967, Vicki was united in marriage to Larry G. Barglof in Linn Grove, Iowa.  This union was blessed with three children: Brett, Beth, and Jennifer.  For two years after they were married, Larry and Vicki lived in Hiawatha, Iowa.  In April of 1970, they moved to the Clapp family farm near Linn Grove and began farming with Larry’s parents, Erwin and Marlyn Barglof.  Larry and Vicki later became co-owners of the Valley Market.  Vicki was a dedicated wife and mother and also worked part time as a secretary at the United Methodist Church in Webb and at Riverside in Linn Grove. 

Vicki enjoyed baking, reading, and working with Larry to find and restore antiques.  Vicki was passionate about her love for the Lord and spent many hours serving God and growing her faith through children’s ministries, women’s groups, bible studies, and leading Awanas.  She was a lifelong member of Riverside Church in Linn Grove and was instrumental in supporting the spiritual growth of several churches in the area.  Larry and Vicki were a team and used their gifts to share their faith, lead people to Christ, and disciple them in their walk with the Lord.  After Larry’s passing, Vicki remained strong in her faith and continued her journey with God through her many loving friendships.

Vicki’s life will always be celebrated and cherished by her family.  She leaves behind her children: Brett (Kristal) Barglof of Cherokee; Beth (Christopher) Low of Des Moines; Jennifer (Scot) Hansen of Urbandale; grandchildren Thomas Krahl of Seattle, WA; Bennett Barglof of Aurelia; Krystn Camp of Kansas City, MO; Brenten (Erin) Barglof of Okemos, MI; Ian Camp of Sioux Rapids; Jonas Camp of Cherokee; Liam and Eden Hansen of Urbandale; Casey and Lauren Low of Des Moines; Great grandchildren Hunter Barglof of Aurelia; Romèo, Jasiah, Isaac Baez, Adrianna and Sophia Goosic of Kansas City, MO;  Sister, Cindy Wolf of Eureka  Springs, AR;  Mother-in-law Marlyn Barglof of Spencer; sister-in-law Linda (Marc) Courtney of Stewartsville, MO; Betty (Charles) Hyde of Peterson: Cheryl Barglof of St. Charles, MO; and many other beloved family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Larry Barglof; parents Dwight and Mary Clapp, father-in-law Erwin Barglof; brother Mike Clapp, sister Susan Maxwell and brother-in-law Bill Maxwell, and brother-in-law Walter Wolf.

Vicki went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday.  She will always be remembered for her strong faith, love of family, her kind words and her infectious laugh.  May the Lord continue to be honored and glorified through the life and testimony of Vicki Marie Barglof.
