Sandra “Sandi” K. Peterson, age 51, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at Spencer, Iowa. Sandra Kay Appeldorn, the daughter of Delbert and Marcella (Mesner) Appeldorn was born in Primghar, Iowa, on October 15, 1962. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. Sandi lived her youth in the Paullina community and graduated from the Paullina High School in 1981. Following her graduation, she continued her education and Westmar and Briar Cliff Colleges where she studied music and developmental psychology. Sandi was an avid dart player from 1986-1994.
On June 3, 2000, Sandi was united in marriage to Brent Peterson at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa. Their married lifetime was spent in the Spencer and Sioux Rapids communities. Throughout her lifetime, Sandi had been a waitress, cook and bartender in the Iowa Great Lakes area at Tweeters, Mother Natures, and the Dry Dock. While she resided in Spencer, she had been employed at The Hotel and the deli at Super Value. Sandi was also associated with the food service industry at Sparky’s 3 & 71 and the deli of Liberty Foods at the Sara Lee Plant in Storm Lake. For a period of time she had worked at Jack Links Distribution Center in Laurens.
A special interest of Sandi’s was creative floral crafts and she made many beautiful gifts to share with her family and friends. She had also enjoyed cooking, watching TV, listening to music and her cats. Both Sandi and Brent had been a part of the Sioux Rapids Beautification Committee.
Sandi is lovingly remembered by her husband: Brent of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; son, Jason Geisinger of Peterson, Iowa; three brothers: Dennis (Sandy) Appeldorn of Ankeny, Iowa; Rodney Appeldorn of Farmington, Arkansas; and Larry (Kristie) Appeldorn of Paullina, Iowa; sister, Stephanie (Greg) Mesner-Ficken of Spencer, Iowa; mother-in-law, Pat Peterson of Aurelia, Iowa; other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Randy Mesner; and father-in-law, Stanley Peterson.
