Ruth A. Wolf, age 89, of Marathon, Iowa died on Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Marathon, Iowa, with Reverend David Schumann officiating. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home in Marathon.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church, where the family will be present.

Ruth Augusta Negus was born to Walden and Tillie (Deuter) Negus on June 5, 1916 in rural Albert City, Iowa. She lived on a farm west of Marathon, until the fall of 1921, when the family moved into Marathon. In 1921, Ruth began her education in Marathon and graduated from Marathon High School in 1933.

On September 10, 1936, Ruth married Clyde Vernon Wolf at the Methodist parsonage in Miller, South Dakota. They were blessed with two children, Nita and James. Ruth was a loving wife and devoted mother who took great pleasure in keeping a warm and comfortable home for the family she treasured.

Ruth enjoyed flowers in all forms. She also found great pleasure in gardening, canning, cooking and embroidering.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Nita McLaughlin and her husband Gene of Marathon; son James Wolf and his wife Claire of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Robert McLaughlin of Onawa, Iowa, Paula DeRoos and her husband Kevin of Zeeland, Michigan, Jon McLaughlin and his wife Christine of West Chester, Ohio, David Wolf of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sonya Wolf of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren: Jennifer, Tim and Jacob McLaughlin, Lindsey and Kelsey DeRoos, Laura and Sam McLaughlin; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde in September 1990, and two sisters.
