Ronald Dean Fritz, age 73, of Spencer, Iowa and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died Friday, November 7, 2014 at Spencer Hospital in Spencer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Ronald Dean Fritz was born November 14, 1940 in Holstein, Iowa the son of Lawrence and Phyllis (McCrea) Fritz. In 1941, Ronald was baptized at the Methodist Church in Holstein where he was later confirmed.

Growing up, Ronnie attended school and graduated from Hayes Consolidated High School in 1959.

On September 24, 1961, Ronnie was united in marriage to Sandra Witter at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Together, they were blessed with three children: Tami, Staci, and Todd.

Ronnie enjoyed travelling to Wyoming to visit his son and also to California to see his son and grandson graduate from Marine basic training. In his spare time, he loved golfing and dancing. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan. Ronnie was a talented artist. You could often find him sketching and acid sketching. Ronnie enjoyed sports and coaching his children in their events. A favorite pastime of Ronnie’s was visiting with his friends at AMVETS. Family was very important to Ronnie and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Tami (Don) Vos of Estherville, Iowa; Staci (Mike) Jensen of Spencer, Iowa; Todd (Linda) Fritz of Sundance, Wyoming; grandchildren: Abby (Ricky) Hoffmeyer of Estherville, Iowa; Andrea Vermeys of Lakefield, Minnesota; Jayson (Courtney) Dirks of Dickinson, Texas; Megan Dirks of Spencer, Iowa; Kaylene Vos of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Ryan Vos of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Ashton Fritz of Gunnison, Colorado; Bryant Vermeys of Estherville, Iowa; Madison Jensen of Spencer, Iowa; great grandchildren: Hayden and Avery Hoffmeyer; Kayden, Keatyn, and Kratyn Dirks; Ryker Geintz; and Lennix Bergeron; brothers: Kenneth (Lois) Fritz of Jamul, California; Larry Gene Fritz of Storm Lake, Iowa; sister, Patricia (Carroll) Boisen of Storm Lake, Iowa; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Phyllis Fritz; his loving wife, Sandra Fritz; and his parents-in-law, Ray and Flora Moore.
