Richard Lee Jarvis, the son of Warren and Elizabeth (Jarvis) Cretsinger, was born in Sac City, Iowa, on February 27, 1962. Rich’s mother, Darlene Woulf, died when he was a teenager, and he came to love his second mother, Elizabeth Cretsinger.

Rich began his education in Sac City and later moved with his family to Newell, where he graduated from the Newell Providence High School. He continued his education at a community college in Storm Lake where he received training in the carpentry and construction industry. Throughout his career, he was employed as a construction foreman.

On July 28, 1983, Rich was united in marriage to Kimberly Bjorklund at the Evangelical Free Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with three children: Tiffani, Tyler, and Amanda. Following their marriage, Rich and Kim resided in the communities of Sac City and Newell and have made their home in Albert City for the past 11 years.

Rich was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Marathon where he was known for his deep and abiding faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. Rich deeply loved, honored, and appreciated his wife, Kim, and her love and faithfulness throughout their lifetime together. The greatest joy of Rich’s life was his grandchildren, and he cherished the time he could spend with them and participate in their lives. He was a very family oriented man. He left a legacy to his family and friends of what it means to be a servant, to live a selfless life, and to give to others. Some of Rich’s favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing in Linn Grove and at the Sac City, Sioux, and Raccoon Rivers.

Rich’s life will always be celebrated by his family which include his wife, Kim of Albert City, Iowa; children: Tiffani (Tony) Menke of Fonda, Iowa; Tyler (Amanda) Jarvis of Albert City, Iowa; Amanda Jarvis and Bobby Hofbauer of Manson, Iowa; beloved grandchildren: Seth, Ashlynne, Tate, Braddock, Brenley, and Max; step-brother, Rob Cretsinger of Waterloo, Iowa; sisters: Kathy Sorenson of Pocahontas, Iowa; and Cindy Sittig of Rockwell City, Iowa; father-in law, Darreld Bjorklund of Albert City, Iowa; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law; other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Cretsinger; two mothers: Darlene Woulf and Elizabeth Cretsinger; sister, Connie Jarvis; and mother-in-law, Bettie Bjorklund.
