Randy, a man whose life was defined by kindness, faith and unwavering love for others.
Randy was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He never spoke a harsh word about others. His genuine goodness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Randy was happy with the necessities in life and the love of family and friends.
Randy was a man known for his hardworking spirit, kind heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. Throughout his life, he worked many different jobs and was never afraid of hard work. More than any occupation could define, he will be remembered for his faith, his strength, and the love he had for those closest to him. He touched many lives through simple acts of kindness, friendship, and loyalty.
A devoted man of God, Randy lived his faith daily. His love for the Lord guided how he treated people; with a servant’s heart.
He attended the Pentecostal Church in Marathon Iowa where his parents started going years prior with his youngest sister Mindy and her family. Currently, his sisters Kim and Rhonda are regular church goers at the very same church. His nephew Tyler is the preacher and he was proud to go watch him preach. This is a church where generations of family members attended and were baptized.
Randy cherished every moment spent with those he loved, creating memories filled with lots of laughter and unconditional support. He loved cheering on his nieces and nephews in sporting or music events. Randy attended the family reunions and enjoyed the baseball games always played at the end of the day as he was an avid baseball player in high school along with his brother Dan.
In his younger years, Randy shared his passion for sports by coaching, and he believed in discipline, teamwork and bringing out the best in others values that extended far beyond the field. Randy had a lifelong love for staying active and took pride in maintaining his health through exercise. Randy ran the Marathon to Marathon in 1996 which was from Storm Lake to Marathon and was approximately 26 miles. He also enjoyed many years of playing slow pitch softball, and was an avid sports fan. Randy especially loved the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs cheering them on alongside his father Darreld and two brothers Dan and Jamie who shared the same passion for sports.
Randy had a special place in his heart for dogs, finding joy and companionship in their loyalty. His dog Lulu, which was originally his Mother’s dog, became a beloved pet and they went everywhere together and loved each other deeply.
Randy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith and selflessness that will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
