Phyllis Lewis, age 76, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 21, 2006 in Colorado Springs.

Memorial services for Mrs. Lewis will be held on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Jamie Cutler officiating. Inurnment will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present. Phyllis Mae Grienke was born June 4, 1930 in Alta, Iowa to Fred and Helen Grienke. She grew up in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School. She married Robert E. Lewis on November 27, 1947 in Storm Lake and to this union their children Jacquelyn and Richard were born.

Phyllis was employed by Citizen’s Bank and Home Federal Loan for several years. She also owned and operated Wings and Wheels hobby shop from her home for many years. In 1980, Phyllis moved to Colorado Springs and worked in the mortgage and loan business. In 1989 she returned to Storm Lake and started her own childcare business, known as Wee Care. In 2001 Phyllis moved back to Colorado Springs to be near family.

Throughout her life Phyllis was an avid roller skater, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Serpaci Car Club, and a local snowmobile club, and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Phyllis spent her time caring for her family, always putting them first as they were the love of her life. As her family grew, she found new love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loving, teaching, and caring for her family with her tender touch was her daily love. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn; her son, Richard (Debra); three granddaughters: Trisha (Jeremy) Hansen, Jeni Olivas and Amy (Jim) Gargala; great-grandchildren: Leia, Nathan, Tara and Laura Hansen; her brother, Jim (Blondina) Grienke; two sisters, Donna Donaldson and Betty (Gil) Reed; extended family and many friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis; her parents, grandparents and her brother, Edward Grienke.
