Mildred Ehmen, age 94, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died Monday, May 11, 2015 at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. Mildred Margaret Beckfield was born April 28, 1921 in Albert City, Iowa the daughter of Louis and Martha (Sievers) Beckfield. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa, and confirmed her faith in 1935. Mildred attended country school until the eighth grade. On January 14, 1945, Mildred was united in marriage to John Edward Ehmen at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell. Together they were blessed with five children: Carol, Patricia, Clarice, Paul, and Jon. Mildred was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a part of the LWML within the church. Mildred enjoyed doing crafts with the ladies, playing cards, going to barn dances, collecting clowns, and doing puzzles. She also liked to spend time in her garden tending her flowers. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Carol (Ron) Sidles of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Patricia Ramirez of Des Moines, Iowa; Clarice Ehmen of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Paul (Jan) Ehmen of Curlew, Iowa; Jon Ehmen of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Jenessa Ehmen, Devan Ehmen, Dawn (David) Lashley, Anthony Ramirez; great grandchildren: Mariah, Jordyn, Kobe, Cassie, Romeo, Antonio, Alaina, Caleb, Carson, George, Haley, Jesse, and Jonathon; sister, Lorraine Sunderman of Villisca, Iowa; extended family and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; grandson, Jerod; great grandchildren: Anthony Thomas, David Isaiah, and Reily Michelle Lashley; sons-in-law: David Helmick and Joseph Ramirez; siblings: Clara, Dora, Leo, Otto, Albert, Edna, Leona, Irene, Walt, and Norma.
