Michaele Marie Cox

Michaele Marie Cox, age 59, of Albert City, Iowa died Monday, March 18, 2024 in Albert City.

Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, March 23, 2024 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at 509 King St. Fonda, Iowa. Private family burial will be in Cedar Cemetery in Fonda. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements. 

Michaele was born June 13, 1962 to Micheal H. and Jean P. (Krischak) Cox in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended school at the Archbishop Ryan High School for Girls, graduating in 1982. As a young girl, Michaele was active in Girl Scouts and she played the flute in the high school marching band. Michaele went on to attend Brevard Community College.

Michaele enjoyed working at Pleasant View Home in Albert City. She treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her free time, Michaele enjoyed cooking and baking. You could find her reading novels and playing video games or card games.

Left to cherish Michaele’s memory include her children: James Curtis Schmeltz of Albert City, Iowa; James “Robert” Schmeltz of Sioux City, Iowa; William Michael Krause of Cedar Rapids; Alvin “A.J.” Julius Krause of Fonda, Iowa; sisters: Mary (John) C. Sanger of Clayton, New Jersey; Eileen (Gene) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Jolene (Richard) Fehr of Sanford, North Carolina; grandchildren: Sereniti Grace Krause of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Alvin Lee Krause of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; niece: Brianna Fehr; nephews: Michael K. Cox; Kristopher W. Hicks; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father: Michael H. Cox; mother: Jean P. Cox; grandparents: Marion G. Cox; Catherine (Peter) Krischak Lemich; grandson: Lestat Schmeltz; and former husband: Alvin Krause Jr (married 1989-2004).
