Maxine Ruby (Wright) Whitinger

Maxine Ruby Whitinger, age 93, of Pocahontas, Iowa died Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

On November 25, 1929, Maxine Ruby (Wright) Whitinger was born to Ray and Hazel (Marrington) Wright in Storm Lake, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Glen Ivan Whitinger on July 6, 1947. The couple was blessed with three daughters: Elaine, Patricia, and Suzanne. Maxine lived most of her married life in Sioux Rapids, Iowa where she worked many years in Don’s Food Mart, Ray’s Cloverland and Ken Schaus’s Foodland. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Patricia (Richard) Lohse; Suzanne (Steve) Schultz; son-in-law: Donald Roling; grandchildren: Angie (Bill) Palmer; Jeremy (Katy) Roling; Brandi (Cory) Spooner; Kristen (Clint) Pudenz; Brad (Chelsey) Schultz; 13 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Hazel (Marrington) Wright; husband: Ivan Whitinger; sister: Wanda Helman; daughter: Elaine Roling; and grandson: Clinton Lohse.
