Mary McDanel

Mary McDanel, age 75, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the MercyOne Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial services are pending at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. 

Mary Louise McDanel, the daughter of Kenneth and Jeanetta (Jessop) Green, was born on September 22, 1945 in Stuart, Iowa. As an infant, Mary was baptized at the Methodist church in Royal, Iowa. She was later confirmed at the same church.

Growing up, Mary attended grade school and high school. She earned her high school diploma in 1963. After high school, Mary attended Larson Beauty School in Spencer, Iowa.

On June 5, 1965, Mary was united in marriage to Archie William McDanel. The couple was blessed with two children, Claudette (Shelli) and Rolty.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed crocheting and reading; she also loved her cats. Above all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Claudette (Shelli) Acosta of Storm Lake, Iowa and Rolty McDanel of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren: Tyler (fiancé, Samantha) McDanel of Rembrandt, Iowa; Joshua McDanel of Sioux City, Iowa; Jordyn McDanel of Sioux City, Iowa; extended family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Archie McDanel; parents, Kenneth and Jeanetta Green; brothers, Larry Green and Claude “Bud” Green; sisters, Ruth (Don) Knephoff and Ilene Lee Newton.
