Martha H. Hinton, age 99, of Newell, Iowa and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 pm, Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Martha H. Hinton was born on July 30, 1907 in Baltimore, Maryland to Thomas W. and Martha D. (Cochrane) Fowler. Martha was baptized in the Baptist faith as a child. She grew up in the Baltimore, Maryland area and graduated from high school there.

Martha was married to Warfield Elliott and to this union three children were born: Martha Thelma, Warfield, and Thomas A.E. She later married Ivey Washington Hinton in 1941. During her marriage, she traveled throughout Europe as Ivey was in the United States Army. They later settled in Rocky Mount, North Carolina where they were co-founders of Grace Free Will Baptist Church.

Martha spent her life as a loving wife and mother. She taught Sunday School for many years and in her spare time she loved to read.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivey; her daughter, Martha Thelma; one son, Thomas A.E.; and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law Sherille Elliott, of Storm Lake; grandsons Edison (Melissa) Elliott of Alta, Iowa and Brian (Kimberly) Elliott of Storm Lake; great-grandchildren: Thomas Douglas, Donovan Kyle, Tamara Kay, Blake, Zachary, Timothy; extended family and friends.
