Marjorie Anderson Obituary

Marjorie Ruth Anderson, age 88, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. 

Funeral Services will take place Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon, Iowa. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held April 8, 2022 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in SIOUX RAPIDS. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements. 

Marjorie Ruth Anderson was born on April 15, 1933 to Edward and Nellie (Mitchell) Hogge in Lake City, Iowa. She graduated high school in 1950 in Jamaica, Iowa. She then attended Buena Vista University, graduating in 1952. 

Marjorie was united in marriage to Ray Anderson on December 22, 1956 in Jamaica, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Loren, Teresa, and Doyle. 

Marjorie was a passionate teacher. She taught elementary students in Marathon, Iowa, then later stayed active in the education system by substitute teaching. She was a dedicated member of Grace Lutheran church in Marathon and taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School classes. Marjorie was a hard worker and active participant in our farming operation. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and tending to her flower beds. Marjorie lived a full life and Ray and her spent many nights out at the Cobblestone and the Woodcliff dancing. She took family vacations to California, Oregon, Colorado, South Dakota, Minnesota, Yellow Stone, Montana and Canada. Later, Ray and her took trips to England, Hawaii, Florida, and Arizona. 

Marjorie is survived by her beloved husband, Ray Anderson; children: Loren (Lisa) Anderson of Marathon, Iowa; Teresa (Wayne) Stephens of Cincinnati, Ohio; Doyle (Melanie) Anderson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Brian (Stacie) Anderson; Brittany (Brad) Ganeff; Michelle Anderson; Ryan Stephens; Michael Stephens; Anna Stephens; Ashton Anderson; Caleb Anderson; Whitney Anderson; great-grandchildren: Audrey, Morris and Mawer Anderson; Nora and Ethan Ganeff; brother: Roy (Sandy) Hogge of Hopkins, Minnesota; sister: Marcella Fairchild of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Janice Vargas of Ontario, California, Eloise Cutler of Rancho Cucamonga, California; Sonna (Merlyn) Winther of Spencer, Iowa; brother-in-law: Dennis Anderson of Marathon, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Norma Hogge; Marie Hogge; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nellie (Mitchell) Hogge; infant brother: George Hogge; brothers: Dale; Jim (Nona); and Boyd; sisters: Dorothy (Russ) Crouch (and Earl Brandt); Alice (Fred) Brattmiller; niece: Donna Crouch Majors; nephew: Alvin Hogge; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Elmer and Bernice Anderson; brothers-in-law: Mark Anderson, Gavino Vargas, Edwin Cutler Jr.; great-grandchildren: Amie, Dillion, and Emerson Ganeff; great-niece: Kate Klinkefus.
