Marda Eloise Melohn, age 89, of Albert City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 at the Fonda Nursing home in Fonda, Iowa.
Services will be held at a later date. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
Born on December 11th 1936 in Laurens, Iowa. Marda was the daughter of Milo Ingram and Frances Viola (Murray) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Laurens, graduating from Laurens High School.
Marda was united in marriage to Marvin Herbert Melohn on September 18th, 1955. They built a life in Albert City raising two sons David Gene and Terry Lee and were devoted members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Albert City.
Marda worked for the Pleasantview Nursing Home in Albert City for many years, did childcare in her home for several years and worked part time at the Albert City Library. Marda enjoyed crocheting, baking for friends and family, Bible studies, and spending time with her two sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons - David (Julie) Melohn of Arizona, Terry (Lisa) Melohn of Arkansas, Grandchildren - Kelly (Patrick) Williams of Michigan, Kyle (Breanna) Melohn of Arizona, Becky (Richie) Combs of Illinois, Robert Melohn of Illinois, Ashley and Emily Melohn of Arkansas and eleven great grandchildren.
Marda was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Melohn, parents, Milo & Frances Johnson, brothers George & Eldon Johnson and sisters Mary Sharlene Hauswirth & Betty Borland.
