Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids. Interment will be in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. Visitation with the family present will take place Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Parish Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Marcine Ellan Noonan was born May 29, 1920 in Livermore, Iowa. Her parents were Charles and Nellie Noonan. Marcine completed twelve years of education and graduated from Livermore High School in 1937. She worked as a housekeeper in Livermore and a secretary for the USDA in Humboldt. During World War II she supported the war effort by working in the hemp plant.

She married Leonard Jensen on May 10, 1943 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They raised six children: Judy, Jerry, Jane, Joe, Dick and Peggy.

Leonard and Marcine managed the Jensen family farm in Rutland, Iowa until 1964 when they purchased a farm near Marathon, Iowa. Marcine enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and doing the accounting for the family farm. Leonard and Marcine enjoyed dancing, fishing and traveling. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids and the St. Joseph’s Ladies Guild. When Leonard passed away in 1989, Marcine continued to live on the family farm independently. In July 2013 her new home became Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City where she lived until the time of her death.

Marcine will always serve as an example of a life well lived. Her values were exemplified through her marriage to Leonard, her dedication to her church, her loving kindness to her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. To all those who knew her, her life was quite simply, the best of what love has to offer.

(Steven) Phillips of Kernersville, North Carolina; grandchildren: Cheryl (David) Monzyk; Doug (Sharon) Hopkins; Lonnie (Angie) Hopkins; Scott Hopkins; Robin Busby; Trevor (Jen) Jensen; Jeff (Mary) Schwartzkopf; Jason (Amanda) Schwartzkopf; Christy (Adam) Marxen; Kevin (Tara) Tilton; Sara Chalstrom; Jim (Jessica) Jensen; Melissa (Brian) Beck; Stephanie (John) Yonkovic; Natalie Jensen; Gloria Jensen; Brad (Lori) Phillips; Keith (Jennifer) Phillips; Jodi (Steven) Moore; Craig Phillips; Katie Phillips; Willie Phillips; 40 great grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and many friends.

Marcine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Jensen; sister, Elizabeth Reding; and grandson, Steven Chalstrom.
