Marcia L. Iehl

Marcia Iehl, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Albert City, Iowa died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation with the family present will take place on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Marcia Leone Binder, the daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Malcolm) Binder, was born in Oak Hill, Kansas on September 22, 1932. At the age of ten, Marcia moved with her family to the Rembrandt area where she lived the remainder of her youth and received her education, graduating from the Rembrandt High School. She continued her education at Buena Vista College where she received her teaching certificate. Marcia taught school in Royal, Iowa, for one year and also did substitute teaching throughout her lifetime.

Marcia was united in marriage to Richard W. Iehl at the Rembrandt United Methodist Church on August 9, 1953. Together, this couple was blessed with three children: Sharon, Roger and Robert. Marcia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and great grandmother. For the first six months following their marriage, Marcia and Richard resided in Odebolt, Iowa, where he was the assistant manager of the Odebolt Coop Elevator. They then moved to their farm near Rembrandt where they were engaged in farming for the next 38 years. Richard and Marcia retired from their farm and moved to Albert City where they made their home. During their retirement, they enjoyed spending ten winters in Arizona and traveling to 49 states which they truly enjoyed. Richard died on November 23, 2012.

Marcia was currently a member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. While residing in Albert City, Marcia was a very active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the activities of the church. Marcia had many talents including making quilts, making brooms for the Thresherman’s, and playing the baritone in the Albert City Community Band. She loved gardening, maintaining her doll collection and helping with the Albert City Lion’s Club where she was one of the first women members.

Marcia’s life is cherished and celebrated by her family which include her daughter, Sharon Iehl of Lakeside, Iowa, her two sons: Roger (Caron) Iehl of Lakeside, Iowa; and Robert (Cindy) Iehl of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Brad Iehl, Jason (Anne) Iehl and their son, Kolten; Brenda (Tim) Wolf and their sons: Bennett and Daniel; stepson, Adam Wolf; Jamie Iehl and her fiancée, Martel Green, David (Melissa) Iehl, Brandon Iehl; brothers, Donald (Margaret) Binder and Floyd (Charlotte) Binder, all of Alta, Iowa; other extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and cousin, Harold Binder.
