Lucille Skog

Lucille Skog, age 91, of Albert City, Iowa died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.

Mildred Lucille Pierson, the daughter of John V. and Jesse (Jones) Pierson was born on March 19, 1925, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She lived her youth in the Albert City community and received her education and graduated from the Lincoln Lee Township Consolidated School. Lucille was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City where she was a long time member.

Lucille was united in marriage to Wendell D. Skog on December 20, 1945 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City and this union was blessed with five children: Nancy (Skog) Phillips, Susan (Skog) Steele, Dale Skog, Robert Skog and David Skog. Lucille worked as a CNA at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City for a number of years. Lucille’s family was very important to her. She loved hearing about all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.

Lucille was an active member of her church participating in the WELCA, playing the piano for Sunday School, playing the bells and singing in the choir. Favorite pastimes of Lucille’s included reading, playing cards, crocheting, family camping vacations, doing word search puzzles, balls games and game shows. Lucille was also a member of the “Happy Hour Club.”

Lucille’s life will always be loved and cherished by her family which include her children: Dale (Diane) Skog of Albert City, Iowa; Robert (Marty) Skog of Albert City, Iowa; David (Karen) Skog of Worthington, Minnesota; Nancy (Terry) Phillips of Truro, Iowa; and Susan (Jerry) Steele of Waukee, Iowa; grandchildren: Lori (Dave) Henrichs; Jodi (Clay) Andrew; Ryan (Rachel) Phillips; Chris (Jennifer) Steele; Lindsay (Chad) Wierson; Amanda (Jorgen) Johnson; Leasa Gamrath; John (Tricia) Willeford; Adam (Cassie) Skog; Isaac and Nick Skog; Jordan (Kristine) Skog; Emily (Andrew) Vaske; Stephen Skog; Tim Skog; 21 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald Johnson; sister-in-law, Doris Skog; nieces; nephews; other extended family and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell on March 27, 2000; brother, John Pierson and five sisters: Hazel Pierson, Lela Braaks, Alice Lawson, Ruth Dahlstrom and Marjorie Johnson.
