Lowell Huber Obituary

Lowell J. Huber of Albert City, Iowa, formerly of Goshen, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 7, 2026.  He passed away peacefully at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa, at the age of 73.

Lowell John Huber was born on February 4, 1953, in Elkhart, Indiana, to John and Dorothy Huber. He graduated from Fairfield High School where he excelled in athletics, particularly track and field.

After working in management at Walmart for over twenty-five years, Lowell retired in 2020. When Lowell wasn’t working, he loved traveling to visit his sons and their families, and he was an avid sports fan.  His favorite team was the Indianapolis Colts. Lowell had a passion for watching sporting events and old westerns.  A special part of his life was the close relationship with his mother, Dorothy.  During his visits with her at Greencroft, he enjoyed playing cards with the residents and continued to do so after his mother’s passing.

One of Lowell’s longtime dreams was to retire in Iowa, and he was able to do so in February of 2026. His family is grateful that he was able to spend his final months enjoying the peaceful life he had always hoped for, near people he loved.

Lowell enjoyed a simple life, and he truly knew how to be content. He was a generous man who loved being a blessing to his family. He was very loving and supportive of his children and set a great example of what it means to love one’s family unconditionally. Lowell left a true legacy of love that will carry on for many generations.

To the world he was just one simple man, but he meant the world to his family. His contagious optimism, positive outlook on life and kind spirit will be greatly missed - as well as his big hearty laugh, phone calls, and how he shared his love with family and friends on Facebook.

Lowell is survived by his two sons, Derek (Sarah) Huber of Cincinnati, OH and Aaron (Cheri) Huber of Albert City, Iowa; his six grandchildren, Joel (Alyssa) Huber, Chase Huber, Will Huber, Carly Huber, Jaala (Nathan) Scott, Jace (Christina) Huber, and his seven great grandchildren, Gracelynn, Hope, Emma, Maizy, Azariah, Samuel, and Rheya. He is also survived by his brother Larry (Charlotte) Huber of Goshen, IN; and two sisters Donna (Kenneth) Metzger of Goshen, IN and Jane (James) Wixson of Elkhart, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joan Bailey.

In honoring Lowell’s wishes cremation has taken place.  The family will celebrate his life at a later date in the Goshen, Indiana area.
