Lorraine June Swenson

Lorraine June Swenson, age 89, of Albert City, Iowa passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, peacefully, with her family by her side at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Funeral Services will be Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City, Iowa. Burial will be at the Fairfield Township in Albert City. Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in ALBERT CITY. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine was born on September 15, 1931, to William and Lillian (Schrieber) Connors of South Boston, Massachusetts. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church and graduated fromm High School in South Boston.

Lorraine met Kenny while he was serving in the Navy. On November 17, 1953, Lorraine was united in marriage to Kenny Swenson in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1955, they moved to Albert City, Iowa where Kenny began farming with his Uncle Gus Swenson. This marriage was blessed with two children: Sandra and Glen.

Lorraine was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for many years and was most proud of the 25 years she served on the funeral committee and always talked fondly about the many years she taught bible school.

Lorraine will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife of 67 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She cherished making memories with her family and was always interested in what her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were doing. In her retirement, she enjoyed baking, playing cards, and time spent traveling on their bus trips.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Kenny Swenson of Albert City, Iowa; son, Glen (Betty) of Albert City, Iowa; son-in-law, Jeff Adams of Madison, Alabama; grandchildren: Jillian Turner of Madison, Alabama; Kyle (Jenn) of Albert City, Iowa; Karla (Josh) Dahlin of Ankeny, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Khloe Turner; Tate Swenson; Hudson, Boyd, and Eve Dahlin; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and William; daughter, Sandra Adams; brothers: Bill and Franny Connors; sister, Irene Connors; and mother and father-in-law, Anton and Ruth Swenson; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Arnold and Catherine Swenson; Alton and Florence Erickson; Bill and Lorraine Elmquist.
