Lois M. Smith was born October 20, 1926 to Joe and Anna (Richter) Thompson in Storm Lake.

Lois and her identical twin sister, Lorraine, completed the quartet of Thompson girls as they were welcomed by older sisters, Marian and Ruth.

Lois graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1945. In 1947 Lois was one of the five finalists in the Miss Storm Lake Contest, while her sister, Lorraine won the contest. Lois and Lorraine moved to Des Moines and worked as secretaries in the insurance field for a few years.

On January 23, 1950, Lois was married to Frank Donald Smith Jr. in Storm Lake. To this union two children were born: Jeannette L (Netti) Smith Renshaw and Frank Donald (Bo) Smith III.

Lois enjoyed dancing and when her body no longer let her do that, she always had a song in her heart. Many people have heard her renditions of "The Old Gray Mare" and "She'll Be Coming "Round the Mountain". Lois cherished her time with family and friends and was always happy to share a laugh and a good story. She will be remembered for that sense of humor....and her love of chocolate.

Survivors include daughter, Netti Renshaw of Algona, Iowa and son, Bo Smith of Oak Grove, Arkansas; grandchildren, Erin Lappe of Wesley, Iowa and Ben Renshaw of Algona, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Emily Lappe all of Wesley, Iowa; and sister, Ruth Jorgensen of Aitkin, Minnesota.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters, Marian and Lorraine.
