Linda R. Fischer, age 63, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be at a later date. Vistation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Linda Renee Fischer, the daughter of Rahland and Betty (Hopkins) Fischer, was born in Primghar, Iowa on April 3, 1951. She lived her youth in the Calumet community and graduated from the Sutherland High School in 1970.

Following her graduation, Linda moved to Sheldon, Iowa, where she was one of the first residents of Village Northwest Unlimited. Linda worked with the wheelchair division of the Village and also participated in the Special Olympics. She then moved to Spectra in Storm Lake and was employed at Genesis.

On November 30, 2004, Linda moved to the Sioux Care Center where she has made her home. Linda loved all types of music and had a special love for Elvis Presley and his music. In general, Linda had a great love for all people and life in general. Linda’s family and her Sioux Care Center family held a very special place in her heart. Favorite activities of Linda’s include collecting jewelry, trinkets, shopping, playing bingo and assisting the employees of the Sioux Care Center.

Her life is lovingly remembered by her family which include her brother, Eugene (Bonnie) Fischer of Cherokee, Iowa; sister, Janet Johnson of Spencer, Iowa; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and the friends she made throughout her lifetime.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
