LaVon was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 30, 1918, to Walter Theodore and Ethel Mary Quin Keith.

After graduation, LaVon began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, It was there she met her beloved husband, Eugene. They were married November 5, 1944, after Gene returned home from World War II. The couple then moved to Moline, Illinois where their first two daughters, Rosemary and Daunajean were born. After Gene’s service in the Korean War, the family returned back to Des Moines where their daughters Ruth Renee, and Debra were born. Eugene resumed working for Addressograph Multigraph Corporation while LaVon returned to work at the Northwestern Bell.

Eugene unexpectedly passed away in 1967. It was LaVon’s strong faith that helped her through the difficult times of losing her husband and raising four children.

LaVon was very faithful to her Lord and was a member of the First Covenant Church, and Urban Heights Evangelical Covenant Church in Des Moines until she moved to Albert City in 2010 where she attended the Evangelical Covenant Church.

LaVon loved to “go” and said she did not want to sit at home until she couldn’t travel any more. She was an avid game player with anyone who would sit down and play. This made several of her grandchildren quite happy! She was a beautiful seamstress and made most of her daughter’s clothes as well as some of their wedding dresses.

The last 11 years of her life she lived at Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.

Survivors include her four daughters and husbands: Rosemary (Dave) Breckenfelder of Manchester, Iowa; Daunajean (Allan) Wenell of Laurens, Iowa; Renee (Rick) Molden of Des Moines, Iowa; Debbie (Dave) Perez of Papillion, Nebraska.
