LaVaune Rees

LaVaune Rozell Rees, age 90, of Greenville, Iowa died August 7, 2024 in West Bend, Iowa.

Graveside services will take place Monday, August 26, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in Liberty Cemetery in Greenville, Iowa. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. 

LaVaune Rozell Erick was born August 21, 1933 to Albert and Ina (Tucker) Erick in Madison, South Dakota. In 1947, LaVaune was baptized at a Methodist church. She attended school in Spencer, Iowa. Most recently, she was a member of the Congregational church in Greenville, Iowa.

On October 1, 1951, LaVaune was united in marriage to Leroy Glenn Rees in Jackson, Minnesota. They were blessed with five children: Vonnie, Debbie, Jody, Dennis, and Shelly.

LaVaune loved the outdoors. She especially enjoyed boating and fishing at the Lake of the Woods in the “Old Blue Goose”. More than anything, LaVaune treasured time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish LaVaune’s memory include her children: Vonnie (James) Shouse of Humboldt, Iowa; Jody (Carl) Burger of Laurens, Iowa; Dennis (Marlene) Rees of Sioux City, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Leroy Rees; daughters: Debbie (Robert) Arthur; Shelly (Brian) Colburn; brother: Albert Erick Jr; sisters: Beverly (Wallace) Fawbush; Donna (James) Hawke; grandchildren: Stacy Shouse; Jason Burger; Zachary Erick; and one great granddaughter: Lexi Rydstrom.
