Ken Patten, age 66, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died August 3, 2014 at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, Iowa. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids where the family will be present the entire time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Franklin Patten was born on September 13, 1947 in Lakefield, Minnesota, the son of Roy and Cleo (Aldrich) Patten.

Ken attended school in Sioux Rapids, graduating in 1966.

On May 17, 1969, Ken was united in marriage to Lois Huffman at the United Methodist Church in Sioux Rapids. Together they were blessed with two children: Kari and Kirt.

Ken proudly served in the National Guard. He was a faithful member of the American Legion and was a Sergeant of Arms in military funerals. Ken also ran Bingo for several years.

In his spare time, Ken loved to watch football, especially the Minnesota Vikings. He collected coins, and enjoyed playing cards with family. Most of all, family was very important to Ken Whenever he was physically able to, he was sure to be at his grandchildren’s activities. Ken will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lois Patten of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; children: Kari (Joe) Etherington of Webb, Iowa; Kirt (Michelle) Patten of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Ryan, Brady, and Kayli Etherington of Webb, Iowa; Brandon and Austin Patten of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; brothers: Maynard (Donna) Patten of Webb, Iowa; Larry (Marsha) Patten of Graettinger, Iowa; Don (Sharon) Patten of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; sister, Myrt (Marion) Blasdel of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Mary.
