Kathy Rae Schulz was born May 23, 1957 to Calvin Remillard and Velma Pomeroy in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She lived in Laurens until 1967, then moved to Paso Robles, California where she graduated high school in 1975. Kathy moved to Marathon in 1978 and married Dan Schulz on February 17, 1979. They became proud parents of Desiree in 1987 and were later blessed with grandchildren, Grayson and Kennadi.
Kathy worked at Montgomery Ward, Beckman Electronics, and as a Sheriff’s dispatcher at San Luis Obispo, California. After moving to Marathon, she worked in accounting at the Albert City Elevator, then as a teachers associate with Laurens Marathon School. In 1981, Kathy became a cosmetologist and continued that career until May 2018. She also served on a variety of committees and boards.
Precious to Kathy were Dan, Desiree and her grandchildren. The things that brought joy were cooking, happy music, watching comedies, the sunrise, blue skies, trees, birds singing, flowers and her Westie dogs. Kathy had fun with the Bunco gals, the couple’s card club and other great times with friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Calvin and Velma (Pomeroy) Remillard.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Dan Schulz of Spencer, Iowa; daughter: Desiree (Mark) Patz of Clare, Iowa; brother: Jim (Becki) Winegarden of Maple Grove, Minnesota; sisters: Judy (Gene) Enger of Emmetsburg; Cindy (Les) Boge of Marathon, Iowa; grandchildren: Grayson and Kennadi; many other relatives and friends.
