G. Howard DeYoung, son of George and Nellie (Cosand) DeYoung, was born September 20, 1927, in the family home in rural Laurens, Iowa.  He grew up on the farm, attending Ware School, and earned a 2- year associate degree at Trinity Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois.

On August 9, 1950, he was united in marriage to Delores Johnson in Albert City, Iowa.  They were blessed with 2 children, Joanne and Ken.  Delores preceded him in death on March 14, 2001.

Howard loved the farm, and was especially thankful that Ken joined him in the farming operation, as well as running DeYoung Trucking for many years.

As a young man he gave his life to the Lord as his Savior while attending the Albert City Evangelical Free Church.  He was a lifelong member there, serving in many ways.  He had a heart for helping others, quietly hard at work to help neighbors and others, supporting missionaries and providing opportunities for his children to serve the Lord.

On February 15, 2008, he was united in marriage to MaryAnn Sundblad in Albert City, Iowa, and they remained on the farm until he entered the Pleasant View Home in 2018.

Preceding him in death are his parents, George and Nellie DeYoung, his wife Delores, grandson Jeremy Anderson, sister Lois Marsceau and brothers-in-law Harold Marsceau and Mervin Johnson.

Left to honor his Christian legacy are his family which includes his children: Joanne (Doug) Anderson of Albert City, Ken (Jill) DeYoung of Laurens; grandchildren: Deanne Moody, Jill (Andrew) Nelson, Heath (Shaylyn) DeYoung, and Mark (Kari) DeYoung; great-grandchildren: Kathelina, Alana and Isaiah Moody; Jenna, Samuel, Ezekiel, Jada, Anderson and Jewel Nelson; Josiah, Caitlyn, Adelyn, Keegan, and Taelyn DeYoung; and Eli, Kanen, and Jase DeYoung; sister-in-law Delores (Tootie) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and many extended family and friends.
