Gail Kay Marshall, the daughter of George and Goldie (Perrigo) Pomeroy, was born on November 16, 1938 in Pocahontas, Iowa. Growing up, Gail attended grade school and high school in Laurens. She graduated from Laurens High School in 1957. After high school, she went on to attend business school in Fort Dodge.
After business school, Gail worked as a secretary for 5 years in Fort Dodge before returning to Laurens. Some of Gail’s other jobs in life included working at the Good Samaritan Center in Laurens for many years and the Laurens Marathon School after she got off work from the nursing home. She loved her time at the school talking with all the teachers.
In 1971, Gail was united in marriage to Gerald Lee Marshall. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Renae Kristine Marshall.
In her free time, Gail loved watching birds on the birdfeeders (especially orioles and goldfinches), reading her newspapers (she would get very upset if her Sunday paper was late), and spending time with her beloved pets (dogs and cats named Boomer, Biscuit, Lily, Snowball, and Muffin). Gail also loved keeping in touch with family and friends, as well as people she only knew through Facebook; she was known for her interesting tidbits on Facebook that everyone would get a kick out of.
Above all, Gail loved spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She never missed going to any activity that Tristan and Alexandra were involved in while she was able to go.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Renae (Donald) Loving of Albert City, Iowa; sister, Joyce (Deryl) Brodersen; grandchildren: Tristan Joe Loving and Alexandra Marshall Loving; extended family and friends.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, George and Goldie Pomeroy; siblings: Lee and Arlene Pomeroy; Louie Pomeroy; Velma and Red Winegarden; Glen and Jeanie Brodale; Georgie Pomeroy; and twin, Dale Ray Pomeroy.
