Estella Tscherter Obituary

Estella M. Tscherter, age 92 of Reinbeck, formerly of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Parkview Manor Senior Living Center in Reinbeck, IA, following a lengthy battle with cancer.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Abels Funeral and Cremation Service- French-Hand Chapel, 409 Clark Street, Reinbeck, IA 50669 at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 27th for Reinbeck and surrounding residents. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A second Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Sliefert Funeral Home, 708 Thomas St., Sioux Rapids, IA 50585 at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 28th for Sioux Rapids and surrounding residents. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. A private family graveside service will follow the Sioux Rapids Celebration at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society (please note Estella’s name in your check memo). Online messages of condolences may be left at www.abelsfuneralhomes.com or www.sliefert.com. The Abels Funeral & Cremation Service and Sliefert Funeral Home were entrusted with services.

Estella was born January 29, 1928 to her parents Henry and Freda (Besendorfer) Frey. She was united in marriage to James Myron Burris on December 13, 1947 in Humboldt, IA. To this union were born Steven L. Burris of Metaline Falls, WA and Constance (Connie) J. Burris of Bel Air, MD.

Estella was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Burris; stepdaughter, Linda Windsor; brother Wilbert G. Frey; father, Henry B. Frey and mother, Freda (Frey) Barger. Stepchildren, Steve (Carol) Tscherter, Jeff Tscherter & Donna Johnson. 

Estella is survived by her husband, Donald E. Tscherter (married September 1, 1966); son, Steven L. Burris; daughter, Connie (George Hall) Burris; grandsons, Shane, Frank and Brian Miller; five great grandchildren. Survived by stepchildren, Cathy Wade, Roger Tscherter, Nancy Boehm along with 14 step grandchildren and 23 step great grandchildren.
