Erik Gene Erickson was born on April 18th, 1956 in Spencer, Iowa. He attended grade school and high school in Albert City graduating in 1975. In 1989, Erik with his sons: Josh and Brandon, married Barbara and her three sons: Shawn, Scott, and Cory to complete their family of seven. After graduation, Erik went to work in his dad’s blacksmith shop, “Swede’s Shop” in Albert City. With his brother Carl, they bought the welding shop in 1978 and ran it together until he began working for Metal Master in Albert City. Eventually Erik’s career led him to Farner-Bocken as a delivery driver where he used his “gift of gab” to make every stranger a friend. He officially retired in April of 2021 and was looking forward to years of fishing and traveling to watch their grandkids. Erik was extremely proud of his 25 years as a volunteer fireman for the Albert City Fire Department. He was also very active in the Albert City Jaycees where he held many offices.
In his free time, Erik enjoyed fishing with family, working in the yard, and attending his kids’ and grandkids’ countless sporting events. He also enjoyed attending Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wall Lake, Iowa, where he was a member and enjoyed dressing as Santa Claus for the children. Some of his favorite times were playing cards, eating out, and trips to the casino with their close friends.
