Dorothy Ann Decker was born May 6, 1933 to her parents Bernard “Ben” and Annie (Joachims) Decker in Linn Grove. She was raised with her eight siblings in Linn Grove where she earned the nickname, Tootie. Dorothy attended and graduated from Linn Grove High School.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Don Camp and they raised three children: David, Carol and Debra. Together, they enjoyed dancing the jitterbug on the dance floor for years to come.
Dorothy was always a good cook. She started working at a local café after high school. She gained experience cooking, serving and all that went into running a café. Dorothy even owned a cafe for a period of time.
Growing up, her family attended the Assembly of God Church next door to their home where Dorothy was baptized and confirmed in her faith. She later attended Riverside Presbyterian Church with Don.
Dorothy “Tootie” loved music and would sing around the house with her family. She even enjoyed playing the piano. She couldn’t sit still very well, which meant she had hobbies. From crocheting, to playing cards, to tending to her flower garden, or rearranging the furniture in her house Dorothy kept busy. Dorothy had a great sense of humor and was always up for a laugh, especially, on those memorable trips to the casino with her sister. Above all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dave Decker of Laurens, Iowa; Debbie Stone of Spencer; son-in-law, Darrel Berding of Mason City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: Ben and Annie Decker; daughter, Carol Berding; three grandchildren; siblings: Thurma Farris, Kay Morse, Bud Decker, George Decker, Herman Decker, Betty Nelson, Wanda Boothby and Wayne Decker.
