David Determann

David Determann, age 73, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died June 28, 2024 at his home in Sioux Rapids. 

Funeral services will take place Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Early, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

David Eugene Determann was born May 29, 1951 to Vincent “Dude” and Ruby (Bandow) Determann at Camp Atterbury in Martinsville, Indiana. He graduated from Crestland High School in 1969.

On August 20, 1977, David was united in marriage to Marguerite Mae Ohland. To this union, two children were born: Marguerite “Mandy” and Sean.

David was a hard worker. He was a committed full-time employee at Ranco in Sioux Rapids for 35 years. When he was not working, he could be found comfortable at home watching westerns and occasionally Nascar. He always enjoyed a good laugh. David was proud of his 28 years of sobriety. More than anything, he treasured time with his beloved daughter and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his children: Marguerite “Mandy” Amanda Determann (Zach Goettsch) of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Sean David (Cheyanne) Determann Hale of Uvalde, Texas; brother: Steven Determann of Lake Mills, Iowa; grandchildren: Mackenzie Joyce Determann (Alex Bell) of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Riat Dean Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; Zoey Ruby Goettsch of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Kacelyn Determann of Uvalde, Texas; great-grandchildren: Isaiah David; uncles: Glenn (Janice) Determann of Carroll, Iowa; Keith (Fran) Determann of Correctionville, Iowa; Darrell (Billie) Determann of Clarion, Iowa; aunt: Darlene Garrells of Wall Lake, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Ruby Determann, and sister, Joyce Elaine Finn.
