Daryl Dean Johnson

Daryl D. Johnson, age 91, of Linn Grove, Iowa died Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his home in Linn Grove.

Memorial services will take place Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City, Iowa. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. 

Daryl Dean Johnson was born on April 6, 1931 in Albert City, Iowa to Carl and Alice (Eckman) Johnson. Growing up, he attended school in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

On June 4, 1950, Daryl was united in marriage to Delores Dornath in Fort Dodge. To this union, five children were born: Eugene, Jerry, Linda, Carey, and Marvin.

Daryl was employed at Webster Rendering in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He then worked for IBP until 1971. Daryl bought and ran Wall Lake Processing Company and Linn Grove Rendering with his sons and son-in-law. In 1983 he returned to work for IBP as their Rendering Specialist until his retirement. While at IBP, Daryl earned many awards. He was very well known and respected in the rendering industry. He also was a shareholder and part owner of Cookie’s Inc. in Wall Lake, Iowa. After retirement, Daryl and Delores moved to Storm Lake. Delores, his wife, passed away on January 22, 1998. Daryl moved to Linn Grove in 2006 where he enjoyed the peaceful countryside for the rest of his days.

Daryl is survived by his children: Eugene (Cheryl) of Linn Grove, Iowa; Jerrold (Jacque) of Washington, Iowa; Linda (Kent) of Norwood, North Carolina; Carey (Susan) of Grants Pass, Oregon; brothers: Dale Johnson of Grants Pass, Oregon; James Johnson of Ankeny, Iowa; Larry Johnson of Spanaway, Washington; Curtis Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters: Janet May of Summerfield, Florida; Donna Paris of Boone, Iowa; grandchildren: Dawn (Jim) Eberle of Albert City, Iowa; David (Julie) Johnson of Ida Grove; Tracey Johnson of Ankeny, Iowa; Crystal (Jamie) Pudenz of Lake View, Iowa; Cara (Scott) Greteman of Carroll, Iowa; Corey (Matt) Brenner of Mapleton, Iowa; Zach Zickefoose of Washington, Iowa; Kolton (Ali) Johnson of Washington, Iowa; Jerra (Darrius) Poe of Des Moines, Iowa; Angie (Chris) Furr of Mount Gilead, North Carolina; Kent Roby Jr. of Norwood, North Carolina; Brandon Johnson of Chino, California; Corinne (Riley) Lemmon of Haslet, Texas; Dan (Toni) Johnson of Gainville, Texas; 35 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Daryl is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Johnson; son: Marvin Johnson; parents: Carl and Alice (Eckman) Johnson; sisters: Sandra Anderson; and Sharon Johnson.
