On February 15, 1923, Cora Lee Walker was born in Itasca, Texas to William Lovell and Lillie Louetta (Parum) Walker. She attended school until the 8th grade when she quit school to help support the family of eight. On September 13, 1941, she married the love of her life, Y.G. Partlow, in Grandview, Texas. Even though they were thirteen years apart in age, they were married 50 happy years before Y. G. preceded Cora Lee in death in 1992.

Cora Lee made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a child in Itasca, Texas at the Presbyterian Church, but later became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Farmington, New Mexico and then the Eastside Baptist Church in Big Spring, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Doug Shelley. Here in Iowa, she attended church as often as health would allow her to at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove.

Cora Lee loved to crochet, read, work puzzles and watch Western movies and the Gaither Homecoming videos. One of the highlights of her life was when she was taken to a Gaither Homecoming concert in Des Moines, Iowa by her daughter Kathy and husband Denny Somers in the company of Troy and Betty Clapp.

Cora Lee’s main focus however, was her family and friends. She loved her grandkids and carried pictures of all of them as they were sent to her.

Cora Lee is survived by three children: daughter Francis Davis and husband Jimmy of Midland, Texas; daughter Kathy Somers and husband Denny of Webb, Iowa; and son David Partlow and fiancée Trina Broesder of Spencer, Iowa. She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Steve McFadden, Larry Davis, Jim Davis, Jr., Nathan Somers, Crystal Hull, Jesse Partlow and Micah Partlow, as well as eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many other dear relatives and friends.

Cora Lee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Leon, Lewis and Bill; and one sister, Florine.
