Burdette Wayne Fogelman, son of Malcolm and Sarah Fogelman (Husted) was born on February 13, 1939 in Cherokee, Iowa. His education started in a one room country school in O’Brien county, Iowa. He attended high school in Royal and Webb, Iowa.  In high school he was involved in many activities including baseball, basketball, music and 4-H.  After graduating from Webb Consolidated high school in 1957, Burt joined the U.S. Navy.  In the Navy, he was trained as an electrician and worked on fighter jets.

On June 24, 1959, Burt married his high school sweetheart, Faith A. Cross, of Webb, Iowa.  The first two years of their marriage were spent in the Navy at Pensacola, Florida and Warwick, Rhode Island.  After serving in the Navy, Burt decided on electrical engineering as a career.  However, Burt and Faith also had a dream to farm. While working for Spencer Construction, they were given an opportunity to farm back in the Webb area. He loved working side by side with Faith, farming and raising a family.

Burt had a wonderful mind for creativity and ingenuity. He loved designing and building things and was always thinking of ways to make improvements to farm equipment.  He built an addition to their farm home and built other buildings on their acreage.  Burt had a deep faith and a servant heart. He was very active in the First Baptist Church of Webb, serving as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir. Burt enjoyed working with friends on community projects, including helping build the Webb Community center.  The family enjoyed summer trips to visit relatives in Virginia, Illinois, California and Europe.

Preceded in death by parents, his sisters Betty (Al) Jensen, Marion (Don) Johnson and Marilyn (Paul) Braunschweig.

Left to cherish Burt’s memory are his wife of 60 years, Faith, son Chad Fogelman; daughter Cindy Fogelman, of Illinois; grandchildren Brittney, Aaron, Kayla and Brianna; brother Ron Fogelman of Spencer, Iowa; nieces and nephews and their families.
