Beverly A. Nehring, age 77, of Albert City, Iowa died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
Beverly Ann Nehring, the daughter of Arvie and Eldona (Sievers) Nehring was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on January 3, 1939. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s United Church of Christ. Beverly lived her youth in the Albert City vicinity and began her education at the Lincoln #7 country school. She graduated with the Class of 1956 from Albert City High School. She was a proud member of the Albert City Girls State Basketball Team of 1956.
Following graduation, Bev worked at the Superior Grease Gun Factory in Albert City. She then made her home in Spencer where she was employed with Witco and the All Star Pro Golf. Bev retired in 2004 and during her retirement years she lived in the Iowa Great Lakes area. Later, she returned to Albert City and on July 23, 2013, she entered the Pleasant View Home. While living in Spencer, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and upon returning to Albert City, she was affiliated with the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Bowling was a life-long passion of Bev’s. She began her bowling career in 1959 and her enjoyment of that sport continued through 1998. Bev was named “Bowler of the Year” in Spencer in 1998. She traveled to bowling tournaments in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada, Seattle, Washington, St. Louis, Missouri, Bismarck, North Dakota, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Toledo, Ohio, and Niagara Falls, New York. While in Spencer, she was president of her bowling league as well as secretary-treasurer for several years. Another favorite pastime of Bev’s was her fishing trips to Leach Lake. Bev loved her family very much and she tried to attend as many activities of her nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews as possible.
Bev’s life is honored and celebrated by her family which include her brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Camelia Nehring of Albert City; nephews and niece and their families: Jay (Karen) Nehring and Liberty of Early, Iowa; Tim (Candy) Nehring and Alyssa and Morgan, of Humboldt, Iowa; and Pam (Todd) Schoening and Greg and Conrad of Bondurant, Iowa; cousins; other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her parents.
