Beverly Jene Delp, known to nearly everyone as Bev, lived a life that was as stubborn, loving, and unforgettable as she was. She was a longtime resident of northwest Iowa before spending several years in southeast Missouri. Bev moved back to Iowa in March 2025, living in Albert City until her passing in Ft. Dodge on June 27, at the age of 71.
Born on October 7, 1953, Bev was a woman of grit and humor. She was tough when life demanded it, tender when her family needed it, and never shy about speaking her mind. A pain in the butt sometimes- but always in a way that made her real, human, and impossible not to love.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Holidays were never ordinary with Bev; she had a knack for giving quirky, unexpected gifts that made everyone laugh. She was famous for mispronouncing certain words in ways that became inside jokes to her family, and her laugh filled every room she was in.
Bev was a voracious reader, with a soft spot for Stephen King novels, and an unshakable fan of true crime shows with terrible reenactments and every police procedural she could find. Whether she was wrapped up in a book or solving crimes from her couch, she loved a good story. She also adored her cats, Joey and Sweet Pea, who rarely left her side.
She is survived by her brother, Steven Delp; her sister, Paula Briner; her daughters, Carrie Minge and Meghann Smith; and her grandchildren, Caleb Minge, Grace Minge, and Carlee Minge. She is also remembered with love by her nephew, Patrick Briner, whose visits and help were a comfort to her during her last months in Iowa, as well as by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Norma Delp; her daughter, Gena McCormick (Delp); and her granddaughter, Kayleigh Long.
