Betty Lou McBride, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa died October 3, 2023 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Private Graveside services will be held. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Betty Lou Hanson, the daughter of Elmer and Ida (Wradislavosky) Hanson was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on March 12, 1941. Betty lived her youth and received her education in the Cherokee community.
On May 1, 1959, Betty was united in marriage to Dwain McBride at the Lutheran Church in Cherokee and this union was blessed was four children: Diane (1960), Dennis (1962), Elmer (1964), and Peggy (1966). Betty and Dwain spent most of their married life in Truesdale, Iowa. Betty was employed in the housekeeping department at the Budget Inn Motel in Storm Lake and Dwain worked at the Cargill Elevator in Alta and did construction work. After Dwain’s death, Betty resided in Aurelia, Iowa from 2004 until 2011 when she returned to Truesdale. Lastly, Betty moved to Storm Lake.
Betty was very health conscious and exercised regularly to stay healthy. Special activities of Betty’s included walking and camping.
Betty’s life is honored and celebrated by her family which include her children: Diane (George) Everheart of Humboldt, Iowa; Dennis McBride of Truesdale, Iowa; Elmer McBride of Truesdale, Iowa; Peggy McBride (David Anderson); grandchildren: Lisa Everheart and Todd Earl; great-grandchild: Vixie Earl; step-brother: Clarence Morse of Faribault, Minnesota, and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
