Arnold “Arnie” Otto, age 92, of Albert City, Iowa died Friday, June 12, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, June 15, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
Arnold Roy Otto was born May 11, 1923 in Diamond Township in Cherokee County, Iowa, the son of Henry H. and Anna Marie (Miller) Otto.
On May 14, 1923 he was baptized at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover, Iowa. Arnie was confirmed there in 1937.
Arnie attended St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School in Hanover.
On April 23, 1944, Arnie was united in marriage to Norma Lullmann at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with two children: Judith Ann and Garland Arnold.
Arnie farmed the home place by Aurelia for three years. He then farmed in the Storm Lake and Albert City areas until 1967. Arnold moved to Albert City and started working for Superior Manufacturing for several years. He then worked for Metal Master Manufacturing until his retirement in 1988.
Arnie was currently a member at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake.
In his spare time, Arnie enjoyed woodworking, caring for his yard, and landscaping. He was faithful at raising and lowering the flag daily. Arnie loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed trips with Norma. The couple was blessed to spend 71 years together.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Norma Otto of Albert City, Iowa; children: Judith Ann (George) Behler of Louisville, Kentucky; Garland Arnold (Sandra) Otto of Albert City, Iowa; grandchildren: Kimberly (Mike) Edwards of Louisville, Kentucky; Branden (Kari) Otto of Badger, Iowa; Heather (Chuck) Martin of Storm Lake, Iowa; tweleve great grandchildren; sister, LaVone Sievers of Storm Lake, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Edna Rebhuhn of Albert City, Iowa; Lorraine Otto of Alta, Iowa; extended family and many friends.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Milton, Vernon, and Marvin Otto; sisters: Erna Sievers, and Dorothy Winterhof.
