Anna Marie (Paulson) Olson of Albert City passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024 after 88 well lived years. She was blessed to live a life of love and compassion, touching countless lives.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will follow in Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
Anna Marie, the daughter of Art and Martha (Nordquist) Paulson was born in Albert City, Iowa on June 3, 1936. Anna was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. She attended several schools before graduating from Albert City High School. Anna continued her education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, earning a teaching degree.
Anna was united in marriage to Paul Olson in the Evangelical Covenant Church at Albert City on September 2, 1956. The couple was blessed with two sons, David and John.
In addition to being a mother and a wife, Anna taught middle school for many years at both Havelock and Pocahontas school districts. In addition to teaching, Anna also assisted husband Paul with his printing business ventures in both Albert City and Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Anna suffered for many years with macular degeneration – a disease that robbed her of most vision, but not her passion for life. Anna’s favorite activities include cooking, Wednesday study club, quilting, crosswords, and many activities at local churches. Anna attended Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City.
Anna was preceded in death by husband Paul, brother Leonard, mother Martha and father Art. She is survived by sons David (Maria) and John (Susan), grandchildren Cameron (Kelly), Jessica and Adam, great grandchildren Colin and Lathan. In addition, she is survived by her niece, Mary (Paulson) Heudepohl, whom she and Paul cared for during a difficult time in her life. Mary is very appreciative of the love and support provided by them. She was also survived by many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
