Allen C. Colby

Allen C. Colby, age 93, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died October 17, 2022 at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa. 

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids with military honors by the Sioux Rapids American Legion. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11- 1:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Allen C. Colby was born August 3, 1929 to Carl and Florence (Rokkan) Colby in rural Sioux Rapids, Iowa. After serving in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954, Allen farmed for a few years. He then enrolled in South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, graduating with an engineering degree. Throughout Allen’s life, he worked in control data, hearing aids, and writing manuals for MedTronic. Allen was united in marriage with Jean Houg and the couple later separated. Allen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish Allen’s memory are his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Florence (Rokkan) Colby; sisters: Gerine (Guy) Huckleberry; Thelma Colby Doyle; Norma (William) Eichenhofer; Ila (Earl) Lund: nephews: Arlan Doyle; John Huckleberry; and niece: Marsha (Doyle) Neuroth.
