Romaine faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from October 3, 1942 until his honorable discharge on January 3, 1946, attaining the rank of Chief Machinist Mate. The Lord spared Romaine’s life on April 29, 1945, when a kamikaze plane hit his ship, the USS Hazelwood, killing 107 officers and sailors.

He started out milking Guernsey cows and the Lord blessed his work and grew the farm operation allowing him to farm for fifty years. Romaine loved farm machinery and the fact that he got to farm with both his sons.
At the age of thirty, Romaine accepted Christ as his personal savior at the Marathon Ev. Free Church. Romaine witnessed to many people throughout his lifetime about his faith in Christ.
