Richard "Rick" Frommie

Richard “Rick” L. Frommie, age 73, of Webb, Iowa, died on April 13, 2017, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at Spencer, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Little Sioux Golf and Country Club in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Lamar Frommie, the son of Vernon and Bonnie (Burr) Frommie was born at Sioux Rapids, Iowa on September 17, 1943.  Rick lived his youth in the Sioux Rapids community where he received his education and graduated from the Sioux Rapids High School with the Class of 1963.  Rick served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on March 4, 1964.  He furthered his education at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and the Kansas Law Enforcement Academy.

Rick was united in marriage to Sharon (Lacey) Krohn.  Rick had previously been married to Sharon Jelinek and to that union two children were born: Christopher James and Melinda Sue. The couple later divorced.  Rick’s law enforcement career began in Arnolds Park, Iowa as a patrol officer and he was later promoted to the position of Chief of Police.  Rick and Sharon then resided in Chanute, Kansas where he was a deputy and volunteer emergency person with the Neosho County Sheriff.   Rick was also a professional truck driver and was employed with Silvey Refrigerated Carriers in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ellsworth Trucking, Ruan Trucking and Comfort Contractor all in Chanute, Kansas.  While residing in Chanute, Rick served on the Planning and Zoning Commission, was a city commissioner, and served as vice mayor.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Chanute.

Rick enjoyed working as a volunteer with the emergency crew at the Humboldt Kansas Speedway, exchanging memories with his many friends since returning to his home state of Iowa to “retire”, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his grandkids and family and working as a security officer at the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa.

Those who cherish his life and memories include his wife, Sharon, of Webb, Iowa, his two children: Christopher Frommie of Omaha, Nebraska and Melinda Frommie of Schuyler, Nebraska, his grandchildren: Georgia Frommie of Wahoo, Nebraska and Ethan Frommie-Dunn and Landon Frommie, both of Schuyler, Nebraska, his brother: Vance (Elaine) Frommie of Spencer, Iowa, his sister: Melissa (Robert) Bryson of Aurora, Colorado, a sister-in-law: Jenny Mussulman of Chanute, Kansas, his nephews and nieces: Josh (Lisa) Frommie of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Stacey Anderson of Spencer, Iowa, Justin Genson of Norman, Oklahoma, Joe Bryson of Norwalk, Connecticut, Charles Mussulman of Wichita, Kansas, Craig (Anna) Mussulman of Chanute, Kansas, Mark (Abbie Mussulman) Taylor of Leawood, Kansas, Clay Mussulman of Chanute, Kansas, Curt (Amy Mussulman) Koutelas of Mission Hills, Kansas and Jack (Lora) Mussulman) Webber of Colwich, Kansas, several great and great-great nieces and nephews and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Roy and Effie Burr, and William (Bill) and Mary (Sylvester) Frommie, his parents: Vernon and Bonnie (Burr) Frommie, and his step-mother: Verva Frommie.

A Celebration of Life and inurnment will take place at a later date.

The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
