Phyllis Randall Massee Roemer Galbraith, age 89, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died on Sunday, August 11, 2019 of kidney failure in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
Phyllis was born on April 6, 1930, to Claude D. and Birdé (Bishop) Randall. She graduated from Churdan High School in 1949.
Phyllis was united in marriage to J Tracey Massee from 1949 until his passing in 1977. She then met and married Von Roemer from 1979 until he passed in 1993. Phyllis married Merle Galbraith on January 1, 1994 at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove. Merle passed in September of 2015.
Throughout her lifetime, Phyllis loved getting to know and help people through her careers in the home health industry and the restaurant business. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, mentoring area youth, and involvement in church activities. She was an active member of the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Linn Grove.
Phyllis was very involved in her community through the Sioux Rapids Historical Society and was on the board of the United Community Health Center in Storm Lake. She was grandma to the entire community and was instrumental in getting stop signs on “Phyllis’ Corner”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth Barkley and Mildred Logdson; daughters, Susan Risinger and Paulette Breyfogle; sons, Ernie Breyfogle and James Roemer; and her three husbands.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Lucinda “Cindy” (Jon) Ringgenberg; Jane (Kevin Williams) Massee; Karen (Dwaine) Campney; and Jeremy Breyfogle; grandchildren: Cara, Tanya, and Joseph Ringgenberg; Patrick Risinger; Andrea (Charles) Rambo; Chad Breyfogle; Daniel Roemer; Jody Roemer; Debbie Benjamin; great-grandchildren: Nick Waddell and Nicole Rambo; and extended family and friends.
