Paul Lindgren

Paul Lindgren, age 90, of Albert City, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Pleasant View Home in Albert City. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements. 

Paul Gulberg Lindgren, the son of Eben and Amanda (Gulberg) Lindgren, was born on February 29, 1928, in his family home, where he lived all but 2 years of his life. Those 2 years (1951-1953) he served in the Army during the Korean War.

In his youth, Paul was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Albert City, where he was an active member. He completed his education at Albert City School. He was a member of the Legion for 65 years.

On June 27th, 1954, Paul was united in marriage to Donna Mae Wilson at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple was blessed with 4 children: Douglas, Dennis, Neal, and Neva.  

Paul was a farmer most of his life and milked dairy cows for several of those years. He also owned his own backhoe and tiled for many farmers and friends.

Paul was a lover of horses. He was always happy to take a team and haul family and friends for most any occasion, and he was very active in the annual Albert City Threshing Event. This passion lives on through his children and grandchildren. Also, in his free time he loved to fish and garden.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Donna; his children: Douglas (Jody) Lindgren of Oracle, Arizona; Dennis (Carla) Lindgren of Varina, Iowa; and Neal (Deb) Lindgren of Fonda, Iowa; brother Floyd (Rosemary) Lindgren of Oneida, New York; sister Natalie Salton of Ruthven, Iowa; sisters-in-law Gene Lindgren of Albert City, Iowa and Dixie Lewis of Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law Carl Wilson of Johnston, Iowa; son-in-law Randy Heuton of Albert City, Iowa; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Dan) Koch, Guy (Jennifer) Lindgren, Dan (Breanne) Lindgren, Kevin (Amber) Lindgren, Josh (Katie) Lindgren, Samantha (Josh) Erie, Savanna (Brandon) Piercy, Melissa (Travis) Van Genderen, Laura (Matt) Kestel; great-grandchildren Joseph and LynnAnn Koch, Darrian Kramer and Elias Lindgren, Jennifer, Payton, Josie and Preston Lindgren, Colton, Levi and Cash Lindgren, Taylor and Jackson Zeman and Leon and Aven Erie, Hadley Piercy, Sam, Finley, Clara and Eli Van Genderen, Cole, Will, Ben, Ty and Eva Kestel; and many nieces and nephews. 

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Neva Heuton, sister Shirley Beadle and brother-in-law Dick Beadle, brother Allen Lindgren, brothers-in-law Sandy Salton and Vernon Wilson, parents-in-law Elmer and Margaret Wilson.
