Lori A. Ashley

Lori Ashley, age 57, of Rembrandt, Iowa died on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 20, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. 

Lori Ashley, the daughter of Daniel and Norma Wenck, was born on February 28, 1962 in Storm Lake, Iowa. Lori was baptized into the Methodist faith. 

Growing up, Lori attended grade and high school in Sioux Rapids.

Lori was blessed with five children: Clay Ashley, Douglas Ashley, David Herwig, Casey Herwig, and Rebecca Herwig.

In her free time, Lori enjoyed playing Bingo, scratch off tickets, going to the casino, listening to music, fishing, and working. She loved her cats: Buddy Boy, Tinker, and Little Bit. 

Lori loved her children with everything she had. She deeply cared about others and would give her last dollar to someone who needed it more than her or drop everything she was doing to help anyone who asked her. She also loved all of her children’s friends like they were her own.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her long time companion, Lester Newell and his three children; her life long friend, father of children, and biggest supporter, Frank Herwig; her children: Clay (Heather) Ashley of Moville, Iowa; Douglas (Kendra Feldman) Ashley of Emmetsburg, Iowa; David (Amanda) Herwig of Early, Iowa; Casey Herwig of Cherokee, Iowa; Rebecca (fiancé, Devin Brooks) of Manchester, Iowa; sisters, Beverly Koster and Debra (Larry) Kacmarynski; brother, Daniel Wenck Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Kerri Wenck, Linda Wenck, and Rhonda Wenck; grandchildren: Everett and Cole Ashley; Summer and Callie Wendt; extended family and friends.    

Lori was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Angel Jo; brothers, Gary and Larry Wenck.
