Lola M. Weiland Brock

Lola M. Weiland Brock, age 89, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died September 6, 2019 at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. 

Funeral services will take place Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, Iowa. Burial will be in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. 

Lola Mae Brummer was born April 20, 1930 in Storm Lake, Iowa where she was adopted by Ed and Minnie (Burmeister) Brummer.

Growing up, she attended grade school at Lincoln #7 Country School and graduated from Marathon High School in 1948.

On November 25, 1948, Lola was united in marriage to Frank Weiland at Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. Together, they were blessed with five children: Connie, Allen, Dennis, Randy and Julie. As a family, they lived in Storm Lake where Frank worked for Hy-Grade. In 1953, they moved to Linn Grove where Frank worked at the hatchery and Lola was a cook at the school.

Frank passed away and Lola married Donald Brock and they lived in Sioux Rapids. Don passed away in 2010.

Lola was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, Iowa where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also served for many years on the Altar Guild.

Lola worked as a housekeeper at Sioux Care Center. She enjoyed volunteering for Bingo when she retired. In her spare time, Lola loved playing cards, especially 500. Being outside in her flower garden was one of Lola’s favorite things to do. She also treasured dinner dates in Sioux Rapids. Lola was known for making gallons of her famous potato salad. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Connie Wetherell of Havelock, Iowa; Allen (Debbie) Weiland of Aurelia, Iowa; Julie (Ron) Anderson of Aurelia, Iowa; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Patty Weiland; special friend, Allen Stone of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank Weiland and Donald Brock; son, Dennis Weiland; son, Randy (Robbie) Weiland; sister, Lois (Arnie) Treinen; and son-in-law, Bill Wetherell.
