Lois Johnson

Lois Johnson, age 84, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 9, 2017, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Mae Thomas, the daughter of Ray and Minnie (Everson) Thomas, was born in Spencer, Iowa, on February 1, 1933.  She lived her youth in the Spencer Community and was a 1951 graduate of the Spencer High School. Following graduation, Lois was employed at the J.C. Penney store and later was a telephone operator for a short period of time. 

On August 6, 1961, Lois was united in marriage to Everett L. Johnson at the Congregational Church in Spencer. This union was blessed with four children: Linda, Paul, Carol, and Ellen. Lois and Everett have made their home in Sioux Rapids and Lois worked alongside Everett on the farm. She was a wonderful, loving and supportive wife and mother.

Lois enjoyed having friends and neighbors over for coffee and cake.  Shopping was another favorite activity of Lois’. She enjoyed riding the grasshopper lawnmower and she took great pride in keeping her lawn looking nice. 

Lois was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church of Sioux Rapids and participated in the women’s ministries there. 

Lois’ life and memories are loved and cherished by her family which include her husband, Everett of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; son, Paul of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; three daughters: Linda of Des Moines, Iowa; and Carol and Ellen, both of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; other extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Robert Thomas and Claire Thomas; and two sisters: Mary Ann (Thomas) Foster and Raylene (Thomas) Jepsen.

Lois’ life was well lived and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
