Jon W. Fuchs

Jon W. Fuchs, age 64, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Unity Point St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center at Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Jon William Fuchs, the son of Cecil and Leona (Richardson) Fuchs was born at Waterloo, Iowa, on June 20, 1954.  He lived his youth in Laurens, Iowa, and received his education there, graduating with the Class of 1972. Following graduation, he continued his education at South Dakota State University at Brookings, South Dakota.

Jon was united in marriage to Rebecca Kassel and to this union two sons were born: Timothy and Patrick.  He later married Rose Grate and the couple had two children: Zachary and Cortney.  After college, he returned to help on the family farm north of Laurens.  Jon then pursued the passion of his life which was being a truck driver.  This provided the ultimate fulfillment to his life.

Special interests of Jon’s included fishing, traveling, sightseeing, and visiting family.  Jon never knew a stranger and loved talking to anyone and everyone he met.

Jon’s life is celebrated and honored by his family which include his children: Timothy (Melanie) Fuchs of Albert City, Iowa, Patrick Fuchs of Scottsdale, Arizona, Zachary (Eilise Patrick) of Laramie, Wyoming, and Cortney (Alex) Samaniego of Rochester, New Hampshire, his grandchildren: Kiley, McKenna, and Addisyn Fuchs and Morgan, Atticus, and Holden Samaniego, two step-daughters: Danica Aase and Danae Probasco, his sister: Kathy (Craig) Rubel of Plover, Iowa, his nieces and nephews: Dana, Nathan, Michael and Ashlie, several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, other extended family and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
